Project Presentations

About 25 people attended the March meeting at Art Institute of Colorado in Denver.

During our March meeting, we had two different groups present and discuss game projects that they are working on. Attendees get to see works in progress, hear about on-going challenges, successes and about the design and decision making process that the designers are engaged in. Designers get to receive feedback on their current project, as well as suggestions for improvement.

First to present was Gil Villarreal of Ex Nihilo Studios. He presented his studio's current game-in-progress, an adventure game for children based on the biblical story of David and Goliath. Gill showed off a working prototype and went on to discuss the dev tools he had written for the game, and comment on his current and future-planned gameplay.

Next, Allen Ellison of Architekture.com presented his studio's new game, Terminal Mission. Developed by Allen, Erik Issac, Jim Cheng, et. all, this game dealt with an abstraction of airline terminals, and used interesting game dynamics to compel teams of players to compete with each other for points across an airline network. Team dynamics, strategy, and communication are important gameplay aspects. Allen lead an interesting gameplay discussion with the group, taking suggestions as well as commenting on the choices they have made so far in their development.
